We remember playing the Area 51 arcade game back in the 90’s. Mostly because it was one of the few arcade games that was still only a quarter, and it reminded us of Hogans Alley.

In our concept of Video Games, any game in which you kill Aliens (Halo!) is a good game. Thus according to our thesis Area 51 is a good game (even if we haven’t played its console version)

Imagine our joy when every site we read on the internet announced that super awesome comic genius Grant Morrison is penning an Area 51 screenplay.

Anyway, for the confused video game players out there who don’t read comics, we thought we could point you toward some Grant stories that might give you a take on just how amazing this movie will be.

1) The Invisibles

2) Animal Man

3) JLA: Earth 2

4) The Filth

5) We3

6) Batman: Arkham Asylum

Morrison is one of the most talented writers in comics, so there are many many more. His stories are boundless inventive, disturbing, frightening, touching, and incredibly well paced. In short, he’s a genius. We’ve heard he’s written screenplays before but not gotten any made. We’re happy for Grant now that he’s flirting with Hollyweird.

We’ve met Grant before and he’s super cool. We shook his hand, we told him we really enjoyed SeaGuy, and he insisted that he and I had entered a new period of détente.

No really, we don’t make these things up.
