It’s hard to believe that the NYC Comic Con was almost a whole month ago. We here at Foot2Mouth saw Stephen Colbert there, and some of us got our picture with him.

The big comics news about comedy central pundit Stephen Colbert right now is that he now has Cap’s shield hanging on his TV show wall after Cap’s demise.

Supposedly Joey Q. himself sent it to him, but maybe Colbert just bought himself one without the help of Joey Q. We’re not totally sure and are skeptical of all things.

At first we thought “Why is Colbert talking about Cap so much?”

Sure Cap’s image as an ‘American hero’ fits well into Colbert’s character and his obsession with American values and heroism.

But certainly something else must be going on?

And hey, just what was Colbert doing at the Comic Con anyway…..

Then we remembered. Stephen Colbert’s character (and likeness) will soon appear in an Oni Press comic book called ‘Tek Jansen’. One of the Colbert’s many creations of awesomeness.

Of course! The Cap shield, the Comic Con appearance, Colbert is stepping up his marketability in comic land. He’s trying to get our attention and by god, it’s working.

We here at foot2mouth strongly recommend that all retailers try to order more Tek Jansen as we believe (and hope) that Stephen’s inevitable marketing of the comic on his show will get ‘curious’ Colbert fans to set foot in comic shops. Do not disappoint the curious, and consider having some 2^nd printing Cap #25’s on the ready as well.

Also, who wouldn’t want to buy this hot John Cassidy cover? Tek Jansen can kick Adam Strange’s strange ass any day!
