A piece of the Superman killing rock has been found in Serbia.

Yes, this mineral has been found recently in Serbia, and it shocked scientists when they could match it to no compound known to science.

The scientist who discerned the minerals actual chemical compound “sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide” was shocked to discover when he google’d his new compound that it existed already. In fiction.

In the film Superman Returns the chemical formula of the dreaded green glowing Superman killer is “sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide” with a hint of fluorine.

There is no fluorine in this new mineral but otherwise, it’s Kryptonite.

This is a mighty moment for us. The fictional world is invading the real world. And we welcome it.

This even transcended comic book news and made ‘real’ people news coverage. It was on Yahoo news.

Yahoo News even had a fantastic quote:

“We will have to be careful with it — we wouldn’t want to deprive Earth of its most famous superhero!,” said Dr Chris Stanley, a mineralogist at the Natural History Museum.”

For reference this new mineral will be called Jadarite. We would have preferred SiegelShusterite.  And no, we are not joking.  Dead serious. Check the links.
